A very MOB, mother's day!

This time of year we can't help but to have the mother of the bride on our minds...

With mother's day approaching, we thought it might be nice to think about your MOB/MOG. Your wedding day is a huge day for them too - not only are they hosting one the biggest events of their lives, but also watching their little girl become a wife! Giving their daughter away AND gaining a son ...a very emotional job to have, I'm sure.

With that said, here are some sweet and simple ideas that you could use to show your favorite lady how much she means to you on your wedding day:

  • Display framed pictures from your parents and/or grandparents’ wedding on your cake/gift/guestbook table.

  • Walk down the isle to the same song that your mother walked down the isle to, or use the first dance song your parents danced to as your first or last dance song.

  • Use material from your mother’s wedding veil or wedding dress to wrap your bouquet.

  • Ask if you could wear a piece of your mother’s jewelry that is significant to her as your wedding jewelry.

  • Ask your photographer if they could try to replicate a picture of you to one of your favorite photographs from your parent’s wedding album.

Perhaps this mother’s day you could take some time to think of how you could show your mom some appreciation on your wedding day, in a way that is special to you both.

And more than anything else, the main focus seems to be on what Kate will wear on her head!

Will she wear a veil, a traditional hat, or will opt for a fascinator like the one seen here?

{Kate wore this beige fascinator in May 2006 to Camilla's royal wedding with the entire royal family. Much attention was given to this headpiece and since then, Kate has created a headpiece craze!}

And in turn, we are now seeing a stir throughout the bridal community. Fashion designers are coming out with their own version of royalty hats for the everyday bride. Check out some of these gorgeous avant garde styles hot off the runway by designer Melissa Sweet, Carolina Herrera and Ines DiSanto or by the Jasmine Wedding Collection...

For the more simplistic bride...

And yet, there is still another option! Why not try a fascinator which comes in a variety of styles and colors?

Our two favorite fascinators are truly must haves! And if you're still hesitant to go full regal, you can always wear a traditional veil to your ceremony and then change over to a more fashion-forward look for your reception...

For local brides, 'Toppers' in Boston carries hats in all different shapes and sizes.

One thing this fashion-forward princess has taught us is that with the proper hat, any outfit can be enhanced. Choose yours wisely and as always... be inspired!
