LIGHTS! camera, action...

Looking for a way to set the scene and pump up the romance for your ceremony and reception? DIY style lighting can certainly be your answer! these lighting tricks serve their practical purposes, while creating a beautiful setting perfect for your celebration!

{Twinkle light alternatives: love the clean, whimsical look of the hanging lanterns - while they might be a little tricky to hang, the lit mason jars are simple to construct - a little colored tissue paper and (battery powered) votive candles will do the trick. If you're looking for just a little light accent, try using wire to hang glass votive holders & place your tea lights in the them.}

{These hanging lightbulbs are effortlessly romantic and the different sized bulbs hanging in the trees exudes a little vintage flair.}

{Clearly we're fans of the mason jar when it comes to lighting... so an entire fixture constructed from them? - perfect. The look is completed by using twinkle lights in the fixture as well as throughout the rest of the reception area.}

{Two different approaches to the hanging lantern: First, the string of decorative luminaries - a clean look, perfect for any summer wedding - round paper lanterns would also look great here as they come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. The next look - these candle sticks enclosed in glass lanterns are so enchanting and whimsical, when accompanied by the candles on the tables, this lighting scene is a definite wow factor amongst the decor! photos via Martha Stewart Weddings.}

{Of course you can never go wrong with twinkle lights! two different receptions, two different styles, and two completely different settings... and twinkle lights satisfy both magnificently! - If your dad hangs them every year for the holidays, he can do it again for your wedding! photos via Elizabeth Anne Designs and Style Me Pretty.}

{Being in the event industry, we have a huge appreciation for cohesiveness... even when comes to something as simple as our IE blog posts! In a recent post we displayed our love for the bunting trend, check out how to make your own lighted paper pennant garland from Once Wed.}

Just Follow the Signs!

At Infinite Events we are crazy about the nitty, gritty details!

Although signs may not always be necessary, there are always helpful, and with a little creativity, they can be used to create a true cohesiveness that will only add to the theme or style of your wedding - For example, If you are having a rustic outdoor wedding, try using distressed wood or pieces of bark to convey the message. Or perhaps, you're theme is nautical - a little white paint and few bright colored buoys may be your best bet. Whatever your style may be, use that to inspire your signs!

Here are some fun and creative approaches to let everyone know where the festivities will be held, and assure them they are at the right place...

Wedding trend we love: bunting! Great decor for any style wedding and such a fun way to get your message across!

Take a look a few more uses for signs on your wedding day,
whether it is to give your guests an idea about the cocktail hour menu, or stating the obvious - these signs are great little DIY details that can make a big impression!

A very MOB, mother's day!

This time of year we can't help but to have the mother of the bride on our minds...

With mother's day approaching, we thought it might be nice to think about your MOB/MOG. Your wedding day is a huge day for them too - not only are they hosting one the biggest events of their lives, but also watching their little girl become a wife! Giving their daughter away AND gaining a son ...a very emotional job to have, I'm sure.

With that said, here are some sweet and simple ideas that you could use to show your favorite lady how much she means to you on your wedding day:

  • Display framed pictures from your parents and/or grandparents’ wedding on your cake/gift/guestbook table.

  • Walk down the isle to the same song that your mother walked down the isle to, or use the first dance song your parents danced to as your first or last dance song.

  • Use material from your mother’s wedding veil or wedding dress to wrap your bouquet.

  • Ask if you could wear a piece of your mother’s jewelry that is significant to her as your wedding jewelry.

  • Ask your photographer if they could try to replicate a picture of you to one of your favorite photographs from your parent’s wedding album.

Perhaps this mother’s day you could take some time to think of how you could show your mom some appreciation on your wedding day, in a way that is special to you both.

The Fascinating Fascinators... and more on the Royal Wedding!

With the Royal Wedding just around the corner, we are a flutter with the regal Middleton style!

And more than anything else, the main focus seems to be on what Kate will wear on her head!

Will she wear a veil, a traditional hat, or will opt for a fascinator like the one seen here?

{Kate wore this beige fascinator in May 2006 to Camilla's royal wedding with the entire royal family. Much attention was given to this headpiece and since then, Kate has created a headpiece craze!}

And in turn, we are now seeing a stir throughout the bridal community. Fashion designers are coming out with their own version of royalty hats for the everyday bride. Check out some of these gorgeous avant garde styles hot off the runway by designer Melissa Sweet, Carolina Herrera and Ines DiSanto or by the Jasmine Wedding Collection...

For the more simplistic bride...

And yet, there is still another option! Why not try a fascinator which comes in a variety of styles and colors?

Our two favorite fascinators are truly must haves! And if you're still hesitant to go full regal, you can always wear a traditional veil to your ceremony and then change over to a more fashion-forward look for your reception...

For local brides, 'Toppers' in Boston carries hats in all different shapes and sizes.

One thing this fashion-forward princess has taught us is that with the proper hat, any outfit can be enhanced. Choose yours wisely and as always... be inspired!
